Affording and paying for a funeral can be a daunting prospect, especially if your loved one had big wishes but nothing in place to cover the costs.
It’s common for families to want to respect the wishes of the person who has passed but not be in a position to afford to undertake the service they would like.
It’s ok to consider your own financial position and what you are able to afford. It’s also ok not to do everything they have asked if you are not in a position to.
You may be able to apply to the DWP for help with paying for a funeral service in the form of a Funeral Expenses Payment. It’s important to note that, even if eligible for this payment, it will not usually cover all the costs of the funeral. Further information can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/funeral-payments
You may be able to get a Bereavement Support Payment if your partner has died and further information can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/bereavement-support-payment
You can apply for funeral finance from Funeral Safe by clicking the link below and following the instructions. If you are successful with the soft credit check, you will be able to apply for funding, which is paid to us directly by Funeral Safe, and your payment agreement is held directly with them.
