If someone dies unexpectedly that hasn’t seen a doctor for 2 weeks, then the coroner will be involved. The coroner may request a post mortem or an inquest to determine the cause of death. This may take time but you are still able to make any arrangements that you wish with your funeral directors, apart from the date of the funeral. The funeral directors will liaise with the coroner so that as soon as they have reached their conclusion a date for the service may be booked.
